What you'll do:
Provide component engineering and reliability support in the selection, development, application and assessment of electronic components to achieve timing, cost and quality targets. The Component Engineer will part of the Global Components Organization. The Global Components Organization is responsible for choosing semiconductor suppliers for the next generation of Veoneer Safety Systems’ products.
- Define generic and application specific component quality, reliability, and test requirements.
- Support internal design reviews for electronic components.
- Review component Supplier and Veoneer Internal reliability qualification programs and processes
- Develop and/or review supplier component qualification plans according to automotive industry standards such as AEC-Q100/101/200, JEDEC, MIL-STD, etc
- Develop, incorporate and influence Industry Standards (AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101, etc)
- Provide Technical support for critical supplier related quality issues
- Drive external Failure Analysis labs on the analysis of component failures to determine root cause
- Develop and drive reliability/risk assessment activities for component issues from production line or failures from the field
- Review component change request (SCR’s), evaluating issues and risks to the projects and provide change validation recommendations.
- Support Supplier Quality Engineering in supplier Fab and assembly site audits.
- Support component database management
What you'll bring:
- BSEE/MSEE, BS/MS in Physics or Chemistry
- Minimum 5 years of Automotive experience in Component Reliability
- Experience working in electronics/semiconductor companies performing failure analysis and/or reliability engineering.
- Familiar with semiconductor manufacturing processes, different fab technologies and package assemblies
- Knowledgeable in component failure analysis tools and techniques such as optical inspections, acoustic microscopy, X-ray, SEM, FIB, TEM, curve trace analysis, LEM, OBIRCH, XIVA, etc.
- Knowledgeable in reliability stress tests and acceleration models for aging calculations
- Familiar with IC block circuit analysis and basic semiconductor physics
- Experienced in Quality Risk Management Tools: Ishikawa, FMEA, FTA, 8D and statistics required.
- Working knowledge of the AEC, JEDEC, MIL-STD specifications.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A desire to learn new concepts and applications
- Ability to interpret application and component schematics
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized and able to multi-task
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, both written and verbal
